The EPU after-school program benefits my children with how they interact with other students. My children get more opportunities to interact with their peers in a more social setting that teaches them social and emotional skills.
My son is on the autism spectrum in a general education class. During EPU, he is interacting with other peers, he is learning more skills with how to socially interact with them, continuing his academic skills that they learned during the school days. He is able to share what he is learning more and increase his communication skills with others around his environment.
For my daughter, she is continuing with her reading and math skills. She is also getting help with her homework. This is beneficial because if I am unable to help with homework, at least she is getting the help she needs from the staff who will be able to ask the teacher for more information on how to complete the homework. She is also learning how to communicate her emotions and learning to express herself with others. -Carrillo Family
EPU is such a wonderful program for our students! They have so many enrichment opportunities for the kids to participate in like cooking, dance, art, and physical fitness activities. I am so thankful for this because during regular school hours we do not have the time to get to very many of these experiences that the children really need. -Mrs. Bunney, teacher
